Handling the Pre-Medicare Healthcare Gap
If retiring before Medicare at 65, expect to pay $400-$800 a month for ACA coverage depending on your age and location. You can extend employer insurance through COBRA for 18 months by covering the entire premium plus a 2% fee. Build a dedicated fund now, ideally in an HSA, to handle these expenses without dipping into retirement accounts.
