Catch-up contributions after 50

Once you turn 50, the IRS lets you add $7,500 more to your 401(k) or $1,000 to an IRA each year. These catch-up amounts compound over 15 years without requiring big spending cuts. Many people find room by redirecting small raises or one-time bonuses instead.
