3% Inflation Doubles Many Prices in About 24 Years
A $6,000 monthly lifestyle is not $6,000 in 2046. At 3% inflation it is closer to $10,800. Social Security has COLAs; most pensions and cash piles do not. Build inflation into the plan or the later years will feel like a pay cut.
