Catch-up contributions close the gap
At age 50 you can add an extra $7,500 to a 401(k) or $1,000 to an IRA each year under IRS rules. Use part of a raise or reduce one minor monthly expense to fund the contribution. These steady additions build meaningful savings over time with little change to daily spending.
