The lifetime boost from delaying Social Security
Delaying from age 62 to 70 increases your monthly benefit by about 77 percent permanently. If your full amount at 67 would be $2,000, you get $1,400 at 62 but $2,480 at 70. That extra $1,080 monthly can total over $190,000 in 15 years.
